Antipodes Theatre Companys presents A Development Presentation Of

SILVER TONGUE

Music and Lyrics by ALEC STEEDMAN

Book and Lyrics by MIRANDA MIDDLETON

May 8th & 9th 2023, 7:30pm

David Williamson Theatre

A queer musical re-imagining of Treasure Island.

A motley crew of people shelters in the back room of a run-down pub, singing songs and spinning stories whilst they wait for a storm to pass. But when an unexpected visitor shows up uninvited, the night takes a rather interesting turn…

Silver Tongue is a queer, musical adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic, which challenges the male-centric narrative of heroes and happy endings. Framed through the eyes of a female Long John Silver, it tells a different version of what happened on that infamous treasure hunt.

With a swashbuckling score by Alec Steedman and an imaginative book by Miranda Middleton, Silver Tongue is a new Australian musical about misfits finding a place where they belong.

This project was previously developed as part of Antipodes Theatre Company's inaugural 2022 Winter Lab, and now with the support of Patrick School of the Arts, this development took place February - May 2023.
