Zya Kane

CONCEPT, DEVISOR & DIRECTOR
A Chinese Malaysian/Australian artist, is a theatre maker, director, and inclusive arts practitioner with over 25 years of experience. Thriving on immersive, participatory experiences, she explores contemporary performance, community engagement, and the power of play. Zya creates sensory-rich performances, blurring boundaries between performer and audience. Delving into themes of absurdity, satire, sensitivity, and intimacy, her work sparks introspection and discussion, advocating for social change by amplifying marginalised voices through collaborative exploration. www.zyakane.com Photo credit: Meredith O'Shea

Lakshmi Ganapathy

A graduate of La Trobe University's Bachelor of Creative Arts (Theatre and Media Studies), emerging journalist and theatre-maker Lakshmi Ganapathy seeks to voice unheard perspectives and democratise theatre through her work. She is best known for her performance as Kattrin in Damien Millar’s 2021 production of 'Mother Courage and Her Children', and for directing a site-specific promenade production of 'DNA' by Dennis Kelly, under her company Mucky Puppy Theatre earlier this year. Lisa Greenaway

SOUND DESIGNER
Lisa Greenaway is an Australian sound artist, producer, DJ, and linguist, with a background in creative radio production, installation, and theatre sound design. As DJ LAPKAT Lisa has performed live story, music and sound mixes in Australia and Europe. Collaborating with storytellers and poets, video and installation artists, film and theatre makers, Lisa’s sound design draws on her field recording practice and studies of deep listening, spatial sound, language, and oral storytelling. Her soundwork has featured at White Night Melbourne, MPavilion, and 4DSOUND Budapest. Janette Hoe

Janette Hoe is a dance artist with almost three decades of experience. She explores the potential of dance to bridge cultural divides, using personal narratives to evoke collective responses. Drawing from embodied history, lived experiences, and memories, her intention is to engage with the world and audiences through the senses and sensations. Grounded in the dance-theatre art form of Butoh and somatic improvisation modalities of Western and Eastern origins, she investigates the psychophysical and 'archival' body, enriching her artistic expression with visual, gestural, and material elements. Embracing her Malaysian-Chinese-Indonesian heritage, her work navigates the fluid landscapes of shifting identities and multiple belongings. Photo by: Damian Vincenzi

Sasha Leong

Sasha Leong, a Malaysian Chinese actor and performing artist based in Naarm, began performing on stages at the tender age of five. A trained actor and dancer/mover, Sasha has collaborated on numerous independent and professional projects since moving to Naarm from Malaysia. Her recent filmography includes lead roles in The Unshakable Destiny: Reprise / 迴 (2024) and Some Company (2022), and notable performances in the web series Dark Arcadia (2024) and Life of Kea (2023). Kang Wei Tan is a cinematographer and multimedia artist with a cultural background spanning across Australia and Southeast Asia. His practice centres around the poetic and the sensory, with a focus on the way our cultural narratives shape and mould the intimate personal relationships that weave through our lives. His work explores the way reality is shaped by personal history, as well as the bridges and chasms that connect and divide us.

Angelique 烨 Zhou is a theatremaker born in Naarm (Melbourne). Her practice explores the Suzuki Method and honest storytelling from underrepresented perspectives. Angelique trained under Matthew Crosby and is an associate artist of The Thursday Group. In 2023, she received her BFA (Theatre) from the Victorian College of the Arts and was awarded the Lionel Gell Foundation Scholarship (2022) and Paul & Donna Dainty VCA Award (2023). Professionally, she has performed with Born in a Taxi, Brunswick East Entertainment Festival, and collaborated with Taka Takiguchi. Since 2022, she has worked closely with The Thursday Group's laboratory. practice investigating Suzuki technique.

The pair delve into a potentially dangerous relationship and discover new things about themselves. A supernatural coming-of-age story exploring identity, culture and found family.

Andrew Dang

WRITER & ACTOR
Brought up in the western suburbs of Melbourne, Andrew graduated with a Bachelor of Acting from Federation University Arts Academy in 2019. Andrew has worked on multiple short films and has appeared on stage with Melbourne Shakespeare Company as ‘Snug’ in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and ‘Ferdinand’ in The Tempest. He is also the voice of ‘Tal’ in the Netflix animated children's series Eddie’s Lil’ Homies. When he isn’t acting Andrew spends time writing his own original work, hoping to express his passion for diversity and inclusivity in the Australian arts industry.

Flick is an artist, creative producer and devout homebody. They have a Master of Theatre (Dramaturgy) from the Victorian College of the Arts and they’re interested in genre writing, the intersection of social justice and spectacle, and accessibility in the arts. Flick has been published by humana obscura, CREATurE Magazine and YDAS, and is most well known for creating the staged lesbian sci-fi series SLUNTIK™. They’re a GRAA Independent Theatre panellist and proud member of the MEAA. Flick is based in Naarm, and can be found on Instagram @flickflickcity or online flickflickcity.net

Rayhan Maskun

Rayhan Amadeus Maskun graduated from The Australian Institute of Music with a Bachelor of Music (Musical Theatre). Born and raised in Indonesia, he moved to Melbourne to pursue a career in the performing arts industry. Since then, he has performed in numerous shows, a highlight being Miss Saigon (Osmad), Lucky Stiff (Be You Group), and Broken Records (Five by Five theatre). In his spare time, Rayhan also writes a variety of songs that he hopes to release in the future. Rayhan dedicates his works for the arts to his family in Indonesia, and to every person who hasn’t felt seen.

Phoebe Phuoc Nguyen was born and raised in Saigon, Vietnam, and moved to Australia in 2017. She is a classically trained pianist (The Music Conservatory of Ho Chi Minh City) and has recently finished her acting training at Howard Fine Acting Studio in 2023. Theatre includes: Flake/Mảnh (Red Stitch Theatre, 2023), Legally Blonde (Waterdale Theatre Inc., 2023), Miss Saigon-wrong (Script reading, 2023). Roy Phung is an Australian trained professional Actor with over 15 years’ experience and awards in various roles in film and theatre. He has produced and written his own work for stage and theatre for award winning and critically acclaimed sketch comedy group the Golden Phung. Theatrical highlights for Roy was in Jasper Jones as Jeffrey Lu (State Theatre Company of South Australia) in 2019, Melbourne Theatre Company’s all Asian cast Laurinda in 2022 and malthouse theatre 2023 Development on Cocaine Bust. Roy has had various TV roles on PLONK season 2, Aftertaste and new tv show White Fever.

Quinn Truc Tran

Quinn Truc Tran is an Australian Vietnamese actress. Born in Vietnam, she moved to Australia at the age of 14. Quinn starred as Ngoc in "My Mr. Wife" (2018) directed by Charlie Nguyen, and played Anh in Netflix's "A Tourist's Guide to Love" (2023) directed by Steven Tsuchida. She has earned the Vietnamese Golden Kite award for Best Supporting Actress in "My Mr. Wife" and Best Supporting Actress in The 48 Hour Film Project 2018. Quinn is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Acting degree at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA).

Ras-Samuel, a versatile actor, filmmaker, and theater maker, trained at Greentree Acting School and Brave Studios. His film credits include "The Clearing" (Disney+), "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" (20th Century Fox), "Woodywoodpecker" (Universal Studios), and "The Abandoned" (Panorama). As a writer and producer, he's behind acclaimed works like "Jebena Genie" and "BLVCK GOLD," which earned recognition at festivals. On stage, he's starred in productions at Malthouse Theatre, Victorian Opera, Melbourne Shakespeare Company, Sonnet 66, and Chapel Off Chapel. You can catch Ras-Samuel in Suzan-Lori Parks' Pulitzer Prize-winning "Topdog/Underdog" at Melbourne Theatre Company.

Tier Ataing is a South Sudanese Australian actor best known for his role as Father Ntini in the 2024 TV series High Country. Celebrated for his dynamic and versatile performances across theatre, film, and television, Ataing first gained recognition as Mr. Franklin in the Antipode Theatre Company's production of Passing Strange The Musical, showcasing his strong stage presence and depth of character. He further solidified his reputation with his compelling portrayal of John Hale in the Australian Shakespeare Company's production of The Crucible. Ataing's commitment to his craft and impactful performances continue to make him a prominent figure in the Australian entertainment industry.

An Dang is an actor, singer and dancer with a background in circus where she trained with the National Circus of Vietnam as a contortionist. An has a passion for and has credits in a variety of stage, screen, and musical theatre projects over the past few years such as Mwangaza Theatre's Bare: The Musical and Complete Works’ regional educational tour for Framework of Ideas. She recently graduated from the University of Melbourne with a double major of Chinese and Japanese Studies and is currently undertaking musical theatre training at ShowFit.

Gispa is a gender non-conforming Tanzanian-Australian theatre-maker, filmmaker, and game-designer living in Naarm. A lover of all interactive mediums, they find great joy in the generosity of face-to-face role-playing games. Gispa has performed extensively across stage and screen, most recently in Akaraka (Amarachi), and is currently studying ethical hacking and cybersecurity. A “once professional” competitive Halo player and current Dungeon-Master, they graduated from 16th Streets full-time acting program in 2020 and currently are on the design team for A Dance of Ribbons II, a LARP for those with a hunger for deep narrative and embodying characters with love and care.

Chanella is an Italian-Samoan actor, writer, theatre practitioner and facilitator who grew up on Dharug Country. Trained at the Victorian College of the Arts, she graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Practice and as Valedictorian of the University of Melbourne VCA and MCM. Now based in Naarm, Chanella is the co- Artistic Director and co-CEO of Western Edge. Theatre credits include; I Sat And Waited (dir. Liv Satchell), Let Bleeding Girls Lie (dir. Elise McCredie

Elise McCredie is an award-winning screenwriter and director. Elise was the showrunner on the first Australian, Disney + series, THE CLEARING – a limited series starring Theresa Palmer, Guy Pearce and Miranda Otto. Prior to this Elise was the showrunner of STATELESS with EPs and co-creators Tony Ayres and Cate Blanchett. It screened locally on ABC-TV and internationally on Netflix and had its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival in February 2020. It won a record 13 AACTA awards including Best Television Drama in 2020. Elise wrote, created and produced (with Matt Cameron and Easy Tiger/ Carver Films) TV series SUNSHINE for SBS which starred Anthony LaPaglia and won the AWGIE for Best Miniseries Script in 2019.

Kitan Petkovski is a theatre director of Macedonian descent. His practice focuses on developing and directing work that experiments with cross-form and queer dramaturgies. Kitan holds an MFA in directing from the VCA. In 2023 he was the directing recipient of the Besen Family Artist award at the Malthouse Theatre and the MinterEllison Future director at Melbourne Theatre Company. Recent directing credits include Things I Know to be True (Theatre Works), The Inheritance (fortyfivedownstairs), In The Club and Burgerz (Theatre Works); The Gospel According to Jesus, Queen of Heaven (fortyfivedownstairs). Lucy holds a Bachelor of Arts (Music Theatre) from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, graduating in 2017. Since then, she has had a varied theatre career appearing in musicals such as Anyone Can Whistle (Mrs Schroder), We Will Rock You (Ensemble) & The Mystery Of Edwin Drood (Narrator/Stage Manager). She has also relished the opportunity to work on new Australian work, Alice’s Adventure by Andy Freeborn, where she played the Queen Of Hearts and most recently two developments of Andy Freeborn & Jess Ramsey’s Death To A Butterfly (Antipodes Theatre Company).

Margot is an actor, intimacy professional, director, devisor and educator, originally trained as an actor at the VCA. She has performed with MTC, State Theatre Company of South Australia, Arts Centre Melbourne, La Mama, and fortyfive downstairs, amongst others, as in various tv series. Most recent directing credits include Willow Sizer and Rachel Lewindon’s Orlando at fortyfive downstairs and Kikki Temple’s Stuck at Meat Market for Midsumma. Margot trained as an intimacy professional with IDC (USA) through an MEAA-Equity Foundation scholarship, and has had an extensive teaching career, both in Melbourne and the USA. https://margotfenley.com

Stephanie Beza is a versatile performer, writer, and musician from Naarm, Melbourne. She made her professional debut in “Faust", with Opera Australia, then spent three years touring nationally with Brainstorm Productions. Known for roles such as Muffin in “Voldemort and the Teenage Hogwarts Musical Parody", Rae in “Blue to the Horizon” and Velma Kelly in “Chicago", she has also written and performed in original works like "I'm a Raindrop, Get Me Outta Here" with SpuPuppy Productions. Stephanie is currently premiering a new physical theatre piece, "Hit N Hope", with her writing group, SugarBits. Additionally, Stephanie holds a Diploma of Auslan.

ACTOR ‘Gruoch’
Fiona Choi has been a familiar face on the Australian stage and screen for over 20 years. She began 2024 playing ‘Lizzie’ in Seventeen (Melbourne Theatre Company) and currently features on television in Population 11 (STAN) & White Fever (ABC TV) Fiona is best-known for playing Jenny Law in Benjamin Law’s award-winning SBS comedy The Family Law, for which she received an AACTA nomination for Best Performance in a Television Comedy as well as 3 Equity Ensemble Awards. A graduate of WAAPA, Fiona is well-known to theatre-goers for memorable roles in Laurinda, Torch The Place and Golden Shield (all for Melbourne Theatre Company) and Single Asian Female (STC of SA). An actor, writer and director, working in and out of Naarm (Melbourne). Most recently she directed Frankie van Kan in 'A Body at Work' at La Mama, a show about stripping and sex work; appeared in Patricia Cornelius’s 'My Sister Jill' for the Melbourne Theatre Company; presented her own work ‘My First Bike’ with Jane Bayly at La Mama; appeared in ‘Blessed Union’ by Maeve Marsden for Belvoir Street Theatre Company. She teaches regularly at VCA and is a PhD candidate at La Trobe University.

Petra Kalive

Petra is a theatre director/dramaturg renowned for her work across independent, community, education, and main stages. As the Associate Director at Melbourne Theatre Company, she focused on works that highlighted marginalised perspectives. As Artistic Director at Union House Theatre, Petra supported students helping them launch careers in the performing arts. She also served as co-Artistic Director of Melbourne Playback Theatre Company, using personal stories to enhance community connection. A Churchill Fellowship recipient, Petra studied community-led theatre in the US, UK, and Chile in 2024. She holds an MFA from the Victorian College of the Arts and a BSc from Melbourne University.

Dan Witton works as a performer and art worker, Naarm, Melbourne Australia and has experience and training in physically based theatre, electronic arts, music and voice. He has toured widely with performance projects and loves to work at home. Elliot Wood is an Aotearoa born, Melbourne based performer, comedian and theatre maker. Elliot graduated from the VCA in 2022 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts (Music Theatre) and has since collaborated on multiple projects including: Writer and Performer in ‘Hello, Who Is It?’ (dir. Stephanie Teitelbaum) for the 2023 Melbourne International Comedy Festival; Assistant Director of ‘Mongrel 2023’ (dir. Maude Davey); Collaborator in the 2023 WinterLab (Antipodes Theatre); Director and Performer in ‘Yeehahaha: the 70th Annual Law Revue’ (dir. Elliot Wood & Pascale Constance); and co-creator on ‘Pass The Parcel!’ for the 2024 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
MONTAUCIEL AND THE MOON (working title)

France, Summer 1783. The skies are dark, the crops covered in a thick layer of foreign ash, and people riot. But Montauciel looks to the moon. From Montgolfier to Wright, Kitty Hawk to the Apollo 8 capsule, this circus-theatre epic explores what it takes to leave Earth, look back, and discover who we want to be.

Natalie Frijia
She/Her
WRITER
Natalie Frijia is a writer, arts manager, and circus/theatre maker. She has a PhD in theatre and environmental studies from the University of Toronto, and has worked in circus professionally for over ten years, in almost every role, except performing. Her shows have been produced in Canada, the UK, Australia, and Iceland. Her newest circus-theatre show, GO/NO GO, will be at Gasworks in October 2024. Natalie works as an arts manager with the Victorian circus company Highwire Entertainment, and as the Community, Alumni and Industry Coordinator at the National Institute of Circus Arts.

PERFORMER ‘Montgolfier and Others’
Paolo Bartolomei is an Italian performer based in Melbourne since 2016. In 2017, he was recipient of the first Student Visa of the National Theatre of Melbourne Drama School and the year after he won the Cybec Foundation Scholarship. His 2024 credits include: "All The Rest" at Theatre Works,"Hot White Kiss" at the Butterfly Club,"Samuel Becket and the Rainbow Girl" by Bloomsday in June, and "Midsummer Night's Dream", by Sevenfold TC in July. For film and TV, after being part of “The Newsreader” and “La Brea”, he was able to get a role in the latest “Godzilla Vs King Kong” movie.

Troy Griffiths (stage name Tro) is a circus and burlesque artist with a background in health and sports science. With over 10 years experience as a performer and a Ba. Circus Arts from the National Institute of Circus they have become widely known and highly regarded throughout the Australian circus and LGBTQIA+ communities. They have taken on roles in performing, coaching, facilitating and creative directing with a passion for showcasing the wide array of talent the Australian circus community has to offer.

Grace is an Australian/Malaysian/Chinese circus and physical theatre artist. As a multi-cultural artist, she has travelled and sought unique influences from around the world to expand her practice and to deliver something special to local audiences. Grace is particularly interested in dynamic storytelling using cross-disciplinary performance. She is credited with a diverse folio of work across independent and main stages, engaging in aerials, acrobatics, visual arts, poetry, puppetry and dramatic theatre.

Alessandra Merlo, an Australian performer, effortlessly navigates between musical theatre and screen acting. A graduate of The Victorian College of the Arts Musical Theatre BFA, she has captivated audiences in productions like "Big Fish" and "Titanic the Musical in Concert." On screen, she has showcased her talent in NBC's "La Brea," SBS's "Safe Home," and Acorn TV/Seven Network's "Ms Fisher's Modern Murder Mysteries," as well as in the iconic soap opera "Neighbours." Alessandra has also made a mark in short films, notably in "Blvck Gold," featured at festivals like St Kilda Film Festival and Flicker Fest as well as producing and staring in the short film "A Good Boy" scheduled for release in 2024.

Trained at London’s Central School of Speech & Drama, Sebastien has over 30 years' experience teaching, writing, and directing internationally. Prior to Australia, he’s worked in London, New York, & LA. Has worked for Brent Street Studios in Sydney, then he moved to Brisbane and was awarded an Achievement Award in Devised Work for QTC’s first ever School’s Performance Awards. He then did became Drama Coordinator & Studio Director at HotHouse in Albury/Wodonga. Wrote Circus Under My Bed for Flying Fruit Fly School & was Dramaturg on several productions. Most recently he was Dramaturg on NICA’s production of Within These Walls.

Megan Scolyer-Gray

Megan Scolyer-Gray is a Naarm/Melbourne based actor, singer, dancer and writer. Since graduating Showfit she has been a part of a number of new Australian works. Some of these include originating the role of “Werneke” in “Moonlite”, playing “Tiffany Flake” in “Motormouth loves Suckface” at the La Mama courthouse and “Rosa” in the new concept musical “The Breaths in between”. Megan was also a part of the critically acclaimed and 13 time Green Room award nominated reimagining of “Guys and Dolls” with Antipodes Theatre Company. Most recently Megan’s first play “Teeth and Tonic” was programmed as a part of primary Summer season at The La Mama Courthouse to rave reviews.

Myfanwy Hocking

WRITER AND PERFORMER
Myfanwy is a Narrm based actor, writer, theatre maker, and teacher. They are most interested in queer, feminist works which seek to galvanise the audience. Myf loves performances that include messy make-outs and a dance sequence.
Myfanwy has worked as a performer with the Melbourne Theatre Company, Theatre Works, Butterfly Club, and NORPA Lismore. In 2022, they took their show How To Be a Person When the World is Ending to the Edinburgh Fringe. Myf is also a professional voice actor, having narrated many audiobooks.
Myf is a double graduate of the VCA, attaining their BFA in Acting (2019) and their Masters in Writing for Theatre (2021).

Louie Dalzell is a National Theatre-trained actor and singer based in Naarm/Melbourne. Louie’s most recent work includes David in Torch Song (TaylorMade Productions), Orlando in Orlando (Antipodes Theatre Company), Friend of Dorothy/Scarecrow cover in The Wizard of Oz (Theatrical Inc), and performer/deviser in How Long Is A Piece Of String? (Live Witness Theatre). In addition to this, Louie performs as his drag cabaret alter-ego Florian Wild (They/them), known for their cabaret show MONSTER (dir. Oliver Ayres) at Melbourne Fringe (2023), touring to Adelaide Fringe, Canberra and Sydney Fringe. In 2024, MONSTER received a Green Room Award nomination for Outstanding Writing.

Meg Dunn

Meg Dunn graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2019 receiving the Pratt Bursaries Award for Excellence in Acting. In 2021-2022 she toured Australia performing in David William's acclaimed Grace Under Pressure and worked with Melbourne Theatre Company on their Cybec Electric program in 2023. Meg co-created Dunn and Hock Theatre and directed and performed in their original work How To Be A Person When The World Is Ending at the Edinburgh Fringe and Melbourne Fringe Festivals. Meg is the lead director and choreographer of Nuworks Youth Theatre and works across high schools in Victoria directing whole school musicals. Meg is the narrator of several audiobooks with Bolinda Publishing, including The Grandest Bookshop in the World and No Hard Feelings.

Milo Hartill aka That Fat Diva is a Melbourne-based, Perth-born, actor, model, performer, host and anti-racism, queer and radical body acceptance advocate/activist! She is a proud African-Australian, fat, queer woman and as part of this, is passionate about discussions of inclusivity and diversity in her chosen areas of work and industry. In 2021 Milo graduated the Victorian College of the Art’s Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Theatre and WAAPA’s Diploma in Musical Theatre in 2018. Whilst at VCA Milo won the Lionel Gell scholarship and was a finalist in the inaugural AOC initiative. You may have seen Milo recently as Woman 1 in Hayes Theatre Co’s The Lucky County, written by Vidya Makan, Jules in FANGIRLS at Sydney Opera House and in Virginia Gays Cyrano at Melbourne Theatre Company.

Margot Morales is a writer, performer, and director. Their experimental cabaret IN THE LIKELY EVENT OF FOREVER, won the Green Room Award for Best Writing in Cabaret and received an artist development award from RISING. Their queer digital adaptation of Eros and Psyche, PSYCHE404ERROR, won Best Work in Festival at Melbourne Fringe 2021 and was nominated for a Green Room Award in Experimental Practice. Margot is currently an Artistic Associate at Melbourne Theatre Company where they’ve also worked as Assistant Director and presented their own play at Cybec Electric. As a director, they've directed CLUB NITE at Miscellania and AND SHE WOULD STAND LIKE THIS with Antipodes Theatre Company for Midsumma.

Michelle is a Sri Lankan-Australian Actor, Voice Artist, Broadcaster and Arts Advocate with a Specialised Degree in English / English Literature, and has been involved in theatre for over 30 years in both countries. She produces and presents the weekly arts and issues centred radio show, ‘Community’ on 3MDR 97.1fm, and her recent stage credits include Ruby (In the Club, Theatreworks), Calpurnia/Clitus (Julius Caesar, Melbourne Shakespeare Co), Possum Lady (Lemon Tree on Dreg Street, Theatreworks), and the Green Room award nominated role of Sharlene (This is Living, Malthouse).

Caitlin Dullard began working at La Mama in 2006, first as a volunteer then as Front of House, Mobile (touring) and Access (community) Producer before being appointed Company Manager/Creative Producer in 2014 and co-CEO in 2019. Caitlin holds a Masters of Teaching (English and Drama), a Post Graduate Diploma of Arts (Theatre), a Bachelor of Arts (Drama and Literature) and a Post-Graduate Certificate of Arts & Community Engagement at the VCA. She has facilitated and directed numerous community projects with a wide range of participants working with Western Edge Youth Arts, Carlton High Rise Estate, Platform Youth Theatre, Bendigo Health Care, Festival for Healthy Living, Transvisions Arts, AMES and Sydney Road Community School. In 2013 she was the Community Partnerships Coordinator at the Centre for Cultural Partnerships, VCA & MCM, University of Melbourne.

From Footscray Community Arts to Melbourne Museum, Jonathan specialises in platforming Street and Queer dance forms to cultivate empowerment for sexually and ethnically diverse young people. He is the 2021 Green Room for Best Dance Production and is the 2022 Melbourne Fringe Festival’s Director Choice Winner. In 2023, he was awarded 4 stars for his work choreographing Guys and Dolls for Antipodes Theatre Company and his aquatic performance Shower Thots from The Age.

Cameron Lukey

Cameron Lukey’s producing credits include acclaimed productions of 33 Variations (starring Academy Award winner Ellen Burstyn), Angels in America (featured in The Age, Time Out Melbourne and The Guardian’s annual top 10 lists) and the Australian premiere of The Inheritance. He began his career as an opera singer, performing as a chorister for Opera Australia and as a principal artist for the company’s schools program. Cameron collaborated with producer Michele Bauer to present a new production and tour of Master Class (featuring a Green Room Award winning performance by Maria Mercedes) and the Australian premiere of Harvey Milk – The Opera in Concert. Cameron presented a tour of Resident Alien (featuring a Green Room Award nominated performance by Paul Capsis) and an acclaimed new production of Strangers in Between by Tommy Murphy. Cameron joined the team at fortyfivedownstairs in 2016 and was appointed Artistic Director in 2023.

Alexander Swords

Alexander Swords is a writer, narrative designer and director in video games, games for change, and interactive experiences with over 20 years as a storyteller. They’re also the creator of the Forest Paths Method for Narrative Design, a player-first approach to understanding story in an approachable and collaborative way, used internationally by developers and educators. Advising government, arts organisations, and educators, they’re an advocate for diverse stories and their writers, teach at the National Institute for the Dramatic Arts (NIDA) and the Victorian College for the Arts (VCA), are a resident practitioner at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, and member of the Advisory Council for the Australian Writers’ Guild. They're currently working on Totem Teller, various mixed reality projects with S1T2, a VR experience about the memory of lost places, and a new interactive theatre project as a way of developing guidelines for audience consent.

Vidya is a critically acclaimed and award winning actor/singer and composer/lyricist, perhaps most well known for originating Catherine Parr in the Australian tour of SIX (Louise Withers and Associates). Her other performance credits include Bloom (Melbourne Theatre Company), The Lucky Country (Hayes Theatre); Dot/Marie in Sunday In The Park With George (Watch This); Merrily We Roll Along (Hayes Theatre); Once On This Island (Altitude Theatre); Romeo and Juliet (Australian Shakespeare Company); American Idiot (Shake & Stir).
Her debut original show The Lucky Country (Hayes Theatre), written in collaboration with Sonya Suares, ran in Sydney 2023 to rave reviews. Vidya was the inaugural recipient of Create NSW New Musical Theatre Fellowship and the 2023 national winner of APRA AMCOS Professional Development Award for her original musical LIGHT [working title] with book writer Tasnim Hossain.

Mama Alto is a jazz singer, cabaret artiste & gender transcendent diva. She is a transgender & queer person of colour, living with disability, who works with the radical potential of storytelling, strength in softness and power in vulnerability. As a theatre maker and playwright, she has been featured in programs including MTC Cybec Electric and Antipodes Winter Lab. She has collaborated with legendary figures including Finucane & Smith, Declan Greene, Brook Andrew and Taylor Mac, and she is the co-creator of highly acclaimed variety cabaret “Gender Euphoria,” Australia’s largest ever entirely trans & gender diverse main stage production. Additionally, she has worked as a writer, playwright, diversity & inclusion specialist, and advocate, and received multiple arts and community awards including from the Australia Council, Creative Victoria and more.
