THE OPEN HAND
By ROBERT CAISLEY
Wednesday 1st may 2019
Reading begins at 7.00pm
Alex Theatre, St. kilda
Allison does not accept gifts. Not even on her birthday. Not even from her fiancé. So when she finds herself without her wallet and unable to pay the tab for an expensive lunch with a friend, it is with great reluctance that she accepts the generosity of a total stranger.
Determined to repay his kindness, Allison comes face-to-face with the dark secrets that drive her inability to accept even the simplest act of benevolence.
Runtime: 2 hours and 30 minutes, with one interval
Reading presentations are followed by a brief Q&A session with the creatives.
Recommended for audiences: 12+, parental discretion is advised.
Caisley excels at placing evocatively drawn characters in situations of social and personal conflict, all the while mixing comedy with angst, then mining the dramatic results. - Arts Knoxville
