Festival of the unseen

15 February - 4 march 2023

Meat Market Stables, North Melbourne

Antipodes Theatre Company is excited to present our first ever pop-up festival for new work and bold ideas.

Festival of the Unseen will feature new work, open mic nights and one-night-only performances over three weekends of entertainment that includes:

  • Unsung, a concert where performers sing from roles they would not traditionally be cast in,

  • A staged reading of The Humans, a Victorian premiere featuring cast members from our planned production and showcasing the work of our design team,

  • Winter Lab Showcase, featuring excerpts from projects that have gone through our Winter Lab program for new work,

  • Sloshed Shakespeare, exactly what it sounds like!

  • Play in a Day, an evening showcasing 10-minute plays and musicals that were written in 24 hours,

  • Spotlight Series, four open mic variety nights for writers, singers and comedians,

  • Information Sessions on applying for our upcoming Winter Lab in June, creating new work, inclusion and equity in the performing arts, and more!

  • A Visual Art Exhibition, “Visions from Lockdowns” by AMELIA SHEPHERD @ameliaeloiseart

In this collection, Amelia presents a series of visions from lockdowns that we've now left behind: recollections of normalcy, reflections of of a mundane yet extraordinary life in lockdown, hopes for the future, and apocalyptic visions. The illustrative, flat artworks present a hopeful and bright recollection of normal life, and now that lockdowns are over, they become realisations of a colourful and joyful present.

Check out the art in person during our Festival of the Unseen and be sure to follow Amelia's socials for more!
