Written by BRANDEN JACOBS-JENKINS, who The New York Times calls "one of this country’s most original and illuminating writers," this modern riff on the 15th Century morality play Everyman follows "Everybody" (chosen from amongst the cast by lottery at each performance) as he or she travels down a road toward life's greatest mystery.

Runtime: 90 minutes, no interval

Reading presentations are followed by a brief Q&A session with the creatives.

Recommended for audiences: 12+, parental discretion is advised.

  • Branden Jacobs-Jenkins

    redits include War, Gloria (Pulitzer Prize finalist), Appropriate, An Octoroon, and Neighbors. His recent honors include the MacArthur Fellowship, the Windham-Campbell Prize for drama, the Benjamin Danks Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the PEN/Laura Pels International Foundation Theatre Award, the Steinberg Playwriting Award and the Tennessee Williams Award. He currently teaches in the Hunter College playwriting MFA program, where he is a Master-Artist-in-Residence.

  • Biance Bruce

    Melbourne-born and raised, Bianca’s love for performing started when she joined her family dance school at age 2. Recent credits include StageArt’s In the Heights (Camila, Australian Premiere), Falsettos (Female Cover), and Memphis (Ethel, Australian Premiere), The Balinese Princess and the Funky Monkey (Singapore tour), a number of Melbourne Fringe Festival Shows, and 50 Shades of Grey the Parody Musical (Pam, Alex Theatre). Recently, Bianca was in the sold out season of Mad World, an immersive musical theatre experience. Bianca is chuffed to be involved in Antipodes’ inaugural season and cannot wait to see what lies ahead for this company.

    Sean plans to write and direct for theatre, film and television. He's a journalist and aspiring documentary filmmaker. Previous productions: The Death of Peter Pan (Fly-On-The-Wall), Summer of the Seventeenth Doll (Playhouse Players), We Can Work It Out (Bitten By Productions), Brief Encounter (Warrandyte Theatre), Serving Coffee at Sims Supermarket (La Mama Explorations 2017), Hotel Bonegilla (Courthouse), The Vandal (Doncaster Playhouse), Mad World (Vau d'vile Drag Cabaret) and the title role in Keating's Republic (MC Showroom, Melbourne International Comedy Festival). This will be his first reading with ATC and he is excited at the prospect of working with these wonderfully talented people.

    Louise trained at Centrestage's SHOWFIT, and performed in Pursued By Bear's High Fidelity before commencing her training at Federation University (Ballarat) in 2015. There, her personal highlight was writing her own cabaret Happily Never After: accompanied by Sara Bareilles which she performed in Ballarat and Melbourne. Since graduating university, Louise played Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and Prejudice at No Vacancy Gallery in QV. She has also been involved in developing Ovariacting: A Period Drama where she plays a giant heroine tampon. The cabaret has played seasons at Melbourne Cabaret Festival ‘18, Melbourne International Comedy Festival ‘19, and Bondi Feast ‘19.

    Melissa is a Northern California native who moved from NYC to be with her Australian husband in Melbourne. She is a graduate of the MFA Acting program at the University of Tennessee, currently in the top 30 programs in the world. She is Artistic Director of Brooklyn Runaways and a founding member of Antipodes Theatre Company, where she will appear in the Australian premiere of Ghost Quartet this August.     Susan has been a professional director, actor, playwright and educator for over 25 years. She currently teaches Acting and Movement at the Acting Conservatory – CCM in Cincinnati having previously taught at Northwestern, Loyola-Chicago, Bradley University, Bates College and Notre Dame. Susan’s professional directing and acting credits include work at Chicago’s Goodman, Northlight, Writers Theatre, and Court Theatre. Susan is also a language and verse coach, most recently working on Macbeth for Chicago Shakespeare Theater directed by Aaron Posner and Teller (of Penn and Teller). Susan is a proud member of Actor’s Equity, the International Shaw Society and the Dramatists Guild.

  • Victory Ndukew

    A lover of the theatre stage, Victory is vibrant and charismatic with a flair for entertaining. He undertook training at 16th Street Academy where he worked with master teachers like Chris Edmund, Elizabeth Kemp and Justin Lehmann. Credits include the critically-acclaimed Mr. Burns which was brought back by popular demand after a sold-out first season, The Flick (Avery), and Festen (Play Dead Theatre, Rippon Lea Estate). A native Melbournian whose travels have taken him all over the world, Victory’s grasp of the human condition allows him to embody characters in a truly authentic way that is a delight to watch.

  • Jessie Singleton

    Jessie is a Melbourne-born performer. 2019 credits include Broadway Unplugged in The Gardens in collaboration with Melbourne Shakespeare Company, The Sounds of Musicals with Jemma Rix and Rob Mills (Princess Theatre, Australian Music Theatre Festival), and the workshop presentation of Any Moment with Bradley McCaw and Tyran Parke. Other credits include Broadway Unplugged (Daniele Buatti, Musical Director), Betty Rizzo in Grease (WSP, Gasworks Theatre), and her professional debut in Bradley McCaw’s Any Moment at Chapel off Chapel (Melbourne Cabaret Festival). Jessie was recently cast as one of ten inaugural performers at Crown Casino’s “Juke’s Karaoke Bar” which opened to rave reviews.

    John trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Film includes Crush, A Waste Of Shame, Penelope, Art Party, and The Infiltrator. TV includes Dr Who, Jonathan Creek, Miranda, The Great Train Robbery, Doctors, Holby City (BBC), two appearances in Downton Abbey, Grantchester, Primeval (ITV), Sons of Liberty (The History Channel), and Neighbours. Recent theatre work includes Fawlty Towers Live and Calendar Girls. John is also an accomplished comedy improviser and recently made his Melbourne debut with Impro Melbourne in At The Movies (Melbourne International Comedy Festival). John was born near Oxford and now resides in Melbourne.

  • Tsungirai Wachenuka

    Tsungirai is a Zimbabwean performer who grew up in England. She attended Sandringham College of the Arts where she performed in musicals and dance/cheerleading arena performances. Credits include StageArt's The Colour Purple (Olivia/Ensemble, professional debut) and Memphis, as well as the lead role of Sosina in the creative development of The Abbysinian Contortionist directed by Kate Champion (Performing Lines). Tsungirai is looking forward to adding screen credits to her resume as well as voice work, showcasing her vast range of character voices. She plays Lydia in the upcoming indie feature film Verité, to be released in 2019.

  • Kristy Griffin

    Originally a performer from Canberra, Kristy holds a Cert IV in Performing Arts from Brent Street Studios, Sydney, a BA (Hons) in Musical Theatre from Lasalle College of the Arts, Singapore and a MA in Arts and Cultural Management from Deakin University. Kristy has worked professionally since 2007 in all facets of performing and creative/production team roles in both Singapore and Australia. She is also a highly experienced educator, teaching Dance and Drama in secondary and tertiary courses, and at her own dance school Griffin Dance Studio.
