Miles’ life has been reduced to playing goodwill ambassador for her emotionally stunted parents who, despite getting divorced a day shy of their first wedding anniversary, still live together.
KETTLEHOUSE is an outrageous comedy of errors about lasting love, broken homes, nosebleeds, and the art of Feng Shui.
Runtime: 2 hour, with one interval
Reading presentations are followed by a brief Q&A session with the creatives.

Robert Caisley

Robert Caisley is chair of Theatre Arts and a professor of theatre and head of the Dramatic Writing Program at the University of Idaho. Born in Rotherham, England, his plays have been performed across the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom and translated into Italian and French. In 2014 he was nominated for a Bay Area Critics Circle Award for Best Original Script for his play Happy, which won the 2014 SOTA Award for Best Play, the 2014 BroadwayWorld – New Jersey Award for Best Play, and was a 2012 Finalist for both the prestigious Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center’s New Play Conference and the Woodward/Newman Award for Drama. He premiered two new plays in 2016 —The Open Hand at Clarence Brown Theatre in Knoxville, TN and A Masterpiece of Comic … Timing at B Street Theatre in Sacramento, CA. Other plays include: Lucky Me (New Jersey Repertory Theatre, Curious Theatre, Riverside Theatre, Oregon Contemporary Theatre, The Modern Theatre, Theatre Tallahassee); Happy (New Theatre, Montana Repertory Theatre, 6th Street Playhouse, New Jersey Repertory, Redtwist Theatre, Laboratory Theatre of Florida, Wasatch Theatre Company); and The Lake (Walnut Street Theatre, Mill Mountain Theatre.)

Rob Blowers

Kettlehouse is Rob’s second appearance in Antipodes Theatre Company’s Ricochet Reading Series, having previously appeared in The Open Hand in May of 2019. Rob also appeared with Antipodes’ sister company, Brooklyn Runaways, in The Dead Martin Christmas Special, which was horribly received by everyone everywhere. Rob is a core member of the Antipodes Drama Club, and is currently studying playwright techniques under Antipodes committee member Melissa David. Rob has appeared in numerous stage productions around Melbourne, most recently as Giuseppe Zangara in PEP Productions’ staging of Assassins, which earned him a nomination for best supporting actor.

Melissa is a Northern California native who moved from NYC to be with her Australian husband in Melbourne. She is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, currently ranked 11th in the world among graduate schools with an acting degree. Favorite roles include New Shoes (Off-Broadway debut, Drama League), RENT (Maureen) and The Threepenny Opera (Lucy). She is a founding member of Antipodes Theatre Company (where she recently appeared in the Australian premiere of Ghost Quartet) and Artistic Director of Brooklyn Runaways (where, with her creative partner Peppy Smears, she has written and performed in four cabarets). www.melissadavid.com

Ana has worked in many different aspects of the Performing Arts industry – as an actor, singer, musical director, pianist and vocal coach. Ana’s theatre credits include Nine (StageArt), Merrily We Roll Along (Watch This), The Full Monty (StageArt), The Memory of Water (3 Big Men Productions), The Sound of Music (GFO/SEL), The Buddy Holly Story (Everyday Productions), Wrung Out (Glynn Nicholas) and Vincent – an acapella opera (Anthony Crowley). Australian screen credits include Neighbours, Newton’s Law, Pig’s Breakfast, Good Morning Australia, the recently released feature film Undertow and the recurring role of Maggie Peters in the UK TV series Family Affairs. Musical Director credits include Ladies in Black (Fed Uni), Menopause the Musical and WaistWatchers (HIT), Norwegian Cruise Lines, Motormouth Loves Suckface (Anthony Crowley) at La Mama Courthouse and most recently the workshop of the new Australian Musical I Can Jump Puddles. John trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Film includes Crush, A Waste Of Shame, Penelope, Art Party, and The Infiltrator. TV includes Dr Who, Jonathan Creek, Miranda, The Great Train Robbery, Doctors, Holby City (BBC), two appearances in Downton Abbey, Grantchester, Primeval (ITV), Sons of Liberty (The History Channel), and Neighbours. Recent theatre work includes Fawlty Towers Live and Calendar Girls. John is also an accomplished comedy improviser and recently made his Melbourne debut with Impro Melbourne in At The Movies (Melbourne International Comedy Festival). John was born near Oxford and now resides in Melbourne.
