ATC is proud to present this searing portrait of established pressures facing ethnic minorities. Blanco, an actor and Person of Colour living in Australia, experiences a personal reckoning as a result of the cumulative exhaustion caused by casual racism and class privilege.

This project was previously developed as part of Antipodes Theatre Company's inaugural 2020 Winter Lab.

Runtime: 1 hour and 30 minutes, with one interval

Reading presentations are followed by a brief Q&A session with the creatives.

Recommended for audiences: 12+, parental discretion is advised.

  • Vonne Patiag

    He/Him

    WRITER & READER

    Vonne Patiag is a Writer, Director, Producer and Actor based in Western Sydney, working across stage and screen. His credits include Tomgirl (SBS, 10 mins), Halal Gurls (ABC, 6 x 10mins), The Unusual Suspects (SBS, 4 x 60 mins) and upcoming feature film Here Out West (ABC). His stage works include Obviously!, a queer sitcom with three episodes performed back-to-back as a full-length play, and the life cycle of blanco, a one-man show about racism which will premiere in 2021. He also works as a curator and arts producer, programming several short film festivals across Western Sydney.

    Since making her Old Fitz Debut in BonToms Production of CHORUS in 2019, Chemon Theys has been grateful to continue working in Sydney’s Theatre industry through the unprecedented times. Early 2020, Chemon played an Acting role in Opera Australia’s: Faust. And in late 2020 returned to the stage in a NIDA Directors Production: AntigoNick! where she played Chorus Directed by Zoe Hollyoak. In early 2021 Chemon was in a featured Acting role for Sydney Chamber Opera’s Sydney Festival Production: Future Remains. This February, Chemon will be performing in Symphonie Fantastique with Little Eggs at Kingscross Theatre. After being mentored Anna Houston in 2020, Chemon will be entering her First Year of a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Production at JMC.

  • Bernadette Fam

    DIRECTOR

    Bernadette Fam is a multidisciplinary theatre maker working across performance, writing, directing, dramaturge and creative producing.​ She is passionate about exploring the intricacies of identity, belonging and cultural connection in Australia’s current socio-economic landscape. Recent credits: directing the Youth Artist Ensemble for Q Theatre, Mother (Annual Youth Theatre Festival – Q Theatre), Fight or Flight (Intersection: Beat - ATYP) and tutaj / هناك (here/there) (BATCH 2020/Green Door Theatre Company). Bernadette is currently undertaking a dramaturge mentorship with Jane Fitzgerald and was awarded the 2019 Create NSW Young Creative Leaders Fellowship. Bernadette is the Artist-in-Residence at PYT, Fairfield and the Associate Creative Producer of Green Door Theatre Company.
